|"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Our church was founded in the late 1700’s.
We are an evangelical community church.
We are hearing and believing what God has done for us and what His
promises are to us through Jesus Christ.
We are learning to use our individual gifts to encourage one another and
build up the church.
We pray, love, forgive, care, and serve as we are challenged with the
problems of living in a broken world while rejoicing in the blessing of being
alive and experiencing the greater blessing of Christ’s Kingdom.
We work to be a Christ-like community of believers in the gospel.
We understand that God’s love for us is without measure or end.
We look for opportunities to share God’s love with our families,
communities, and the world, so that “the earth will be filled with the
knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea.”
At WDCC we endeavor to center our personal lives, our community efforts,
and our gatherings for worship on the gospel of Jesus Christ.
What is the Gospel?
All of us without exception are broken people because of sin, but God
loved us so much that He sent Jesus to experience this broken world in
the weakness of full humanity, to live an obedient life to redeem our
disobedience, to die a sacrificial death to atone for our sins, and to rise
from the dead to conquer the death our sin deserves. This is good news
because now, thanks to Jesus, we can be forgiven and free and
reconciled to God the Father.
The Apostle Paul in ICorinthians 15:3-4 says it this way: “For what I
received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our
sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on
the third day according to the Scriptures.”
Because the good news of the gospel is true news, if you claim God’s
forgiveness by confessing that Jesus is Lord and believing in your heart
that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
